The existing product is used for trimming small bushes and branches using a rechargeable battery.
The reason of designing an ergonomic power tool is to prevent MSD (Musculoskeletal disorders); which depends on force, posture and repetition of the task to perform. In this case both hand and body position were considered.
The goal of this project is to design a tool that allows natural wrist position and free movement when trimming boxwoods with a good weight distribution so the user won’t feel stress within the battery lifetime.
Form development and exploration of partition lines; scenario description of griping, changing blades and battery and blades placement.
The refinement consisted on keeping the concept of having two grip positions but with a more appropriate appearance.
Final concept.
